I would ask the owner of the dog to pay
it is their responsibility to control their own dog. Almost any clubs rules do say that in their contract. Know your dogs strenghth, power and habits. Keep them 5 feet away, they all word them differently! |

what kind of damage are we talking about here? a few teeth marks wouldn't warrant vet bills, since they should heal up without a problem, imho. was there a
tear, nose damage, bone damage to a leg...etc?

I personally think the owner is responsible for the damages and she should have to pay!
Its a blessing thing turned out the way they did because it could have been a lot worse! Your dogs rear was not like that before the insident and for that matter the owner of the dogs is lucky no charges were filled on her dog being ( IMO )! This was a very scary insident and I think it is being made out to have not been that big of a deal! Yelonda & Aurora & Haley & Streaker |

canyonstaffs wrote: Ok, so what was left out of the story? As for either of the dogs, if it's just a couple bite wounds, triple antibiotic pack, no point in taking the dog
to a vet.. Who is at fault I guess depends on whose dog grabbed whose, if one dog was loose that's one matter, if both of them were on lead then both of
you were too close to each other and not paying enough attention to get a dog out of the way (if I'm near someone who can't control their dog, it's
still technically my fault if my dog grabs their dog because I didn't have the sense to move my dog out of their way).. IMO.. But I don't know both
sides of the story.

First of all the male (well over 100 pounds) snapped his collar, his owner screams oh shit!!!!!! I was next in the ring and called ring side to standby with a female APBT that was about 50 pounds leashed and waiting. I was facing her talking to her holding her lead and in seconds this moose was on her back ripping at her neck. If the female was not such a little wiggle worm he would have gotten a good hold on her but she kept moving her neck and trying to get away from him. I yelled for her owner to help me while the owner of the male was trying to grab him, I did not want to let go of her lead because we would have two loose dogs. The owner of the male lost control a second time and this time the male came at me and the female. I ended up on the ground still holding the females lead trying to get her close to me and trying to crawl away, I could not get back on my feet because the wind was knocked out of me and I could hardly breathe. The male ended up on my back biting at my feet and pants still trying to get at the female. It took 3 or 4 people to get the dog off of us and about 4 people to lift me off the ground!!!!!! ( I think I was in shock) The dog was disqualified for agressive behavior and now the owner does not want to pay the cost of x-rays for the female. The poor little thing was completely splayed out under him. As for me I am sore all over and feel like I was hit by a train. |

Ok so the story goes like this.. Susan had pocession Nike close to the ring cause we were up next. While I was talking to a friend of mine, I heard a snap and
susan yell out. The bordeaux was ontop of nike trying to go at her neck and poor susan was trying her hardest to keep nike covered and pulling her to safety
but the male was determined. Susan was on ground and nike was trying to bite the dog while he was going for her neck. Finally got a hold of the bordeaux and
susan was trying to get away when he got loose again and went at her again. I was more concerned for Susan at this point then my own dog. Puncture wounds can
heal but my dear friend susan doesnt have the greatest heart and a 200lb male coming at you isnt not the most pleasant thing. Luckily my female is a wiggle
worm and got out from under him and had no wounds. Someone finally got a lead around him and held him down long enough to move susan and nike out of the way.
the bordeaux was moved away from the show grounds while poor susan was getting to catch her breathe. Luckily a few nurses were there showing there dogs and
took her blood pressure and supervised her until she was stable enough to move around. Nike was a bit afraid after the incident and no puncture wounds on her.
So i decided to still put her in the second show and keep her spirit alive. I didnt want this to be a bad thing to remember for her.. After the show I went
home and kept her crated to relax. Well sunday I gave her to the handler and the judge noticed that she was throwing out her left rear and was limping on it a
bit. So she said for that she wont put her up and that her rear needed to be checked out.. Outside the ring me susan and yelonda looked at it and her rear was
not acting right. the second show when the judge went to go over her she shyed away from the judge and was still throwing out her rear. I decided to keep
showing her to make this a positive experience still after what happened.. After talking it over witha couple friends they told me to speak to the club members
and see if they can fork for the vet bill, I just want my girl to be looked at and nothing serious happen to her rear. Mind you she has an AKC show in 2 weeks,
if she is not well enough by then I will probably pull her. so i got the bordeaux owners info and contacted her and at first she didnt think it was an attack,
that her male was trying to be dominant and that the injury was no sustaned from the attack. I went back and forth with her and she agreed to pay for an xray
and exam only at her doctors office because she didnt want my friendship with my vet to influence any of the results. First off my vet is not that close to me
in the first place. I only go to them cause they love pitbulls and amstaffs. she also mentioned that she will not pay for surgery if it is needed if I go to my
vet. Mind you know I have to drive 30mins away to see her vet. Which I am willing to do. I am holding off for a week and see if she gets better if not we are
going to the vet..

Now Im wondering If I should wait a week to get her checked.. I dont want it to get worse then it is. Poor susan I feel so bad, I forgot to mention that yes he
did try to go at Susans feet to get through to Nike, but luckily susan was kicking.. Sorry my story sounds like a babble going on and on.. Im glad the dog
didnt get a hold of her neck or that would have been the end for Nike and susan her guardian angel.. I guess im debt to you for keeping her under your wing..
Love you thanks.. Yelondas poor daughter Aurora was in a stroller right next to Susan.. Thank god her uncle was there and moved her right away.. This could
have played out so differently and we are all luckily susan kept hold or god knows what would have happened..

In that case the owner of the other dog is clearly at fault and if that dog BIT the person holding the bitch I would haul them through the legal system
personally for the bite to a human, that being said go after them for the cost of xrays.. If she's throwing her hip it doesn't really sound like
anything is broken to me but I'd get her done at their cost regardless, if it's something like a mild HD that is showing up now because she
over-exerted (not saying it is, just an example) I don't think they'd be legally responsible for that, but..

Yes Jewelz I'm so glad
Zamiece got Aurora away from the whole thing!
I'd take her in and then determine what you should do! But IMO she needs to pay the bill if it is determind by the vet to be from the same incedent! Yelonda & Aurora & Haley & Streaker |

Man, that sucks! The owner of HOOCH is clearly at fault. That dog needs to be put down if it was going after people as well and can't be controlled. This
story pisses me off just reading it. Now the lady that owns hooch wants to be a bitch about it? WTF? I would take your injured dog to the vet ASAP if it were
me.
I would would take the loose dog's owner to court in a second and have her pay for everything. That is not right. If someone's loose dog jumped on my dog I would flip out. The vet bills would be the least of the loose dog owner's worries. |

WOW!!! Yes the owner of the dog needs to take responsibility. I'm sorry to hear all this, and just glad that no one was hurt any
more than they were. I couldn't imagine something like this happening!! Good luck and keep us all informed as to
what happens!!

The owner of the Bordoux (Hooch dog) is responsible, it should have been on a better show set up (collar) that it couldn't break. Accidents do happen, but
if your animal causes harm to animal or human, you're responsible in my book.

Looks like I missed a good show. LOL j/k
I hope Susan is OK. I know Susan pretty well and I know she is back on her feet doing A-OK!! She will be out in the show ring before you know it!! As for the Bordeaux owner and Jewelz you need to decide on a vet that neither of you know. If she is worried about your relationship with your vet then you need to be worried about her relationship with her vet. Her vet could very easily tell you that it was a pre-existing problem and not the Bordeaux's fault at all. I hope all turns out well in the end. UKC should yank the papers from this dog and not allow this lady to register anymore Bordeaux's period with UKC. If she is goig to continue to allow that tyoe of behavior in her breed and the AKC is trying to get them recognized you know she will get them AKC registered and then all hell will break loose. Keep us posted on what is going on. Jewelz and Susan if you guys need anything I am a phone call away. |
